Funeral Service for Obediah Alexander Edgecombe Age 78 of McCollough Corner Heights and formerly of McCains Long Island who died at his residence on Thursday December 27, 2012 will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mission Baptist Church, Hay and East Streets. Officiating will be the Reverend Dr. R. E. Cooper Jr. assisted by Rev. Irene Coakley and other Ministers of the Gospel. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Gardens Cemetery, Soldier Road, Nassau Bahamas.
His memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of his children: Leslie, Franklyn, Christine, Rhonda, Ebony, and Laverne Edgecombe, Kimberly Pickering, Frederick Smith and Rudolph Clarke. His grandchildren: Rashad, Lorenz, Terrinique, Frankia, Felicia, Theo, Adrian, Kobe, Jermaine, Brandon, Jason, Sharanda, Shamond, Frederick Jr., Rudena, Rudella, Sheniqua, Ryan, Najma, Omar and Hermanique. Numerous Great grandchildren. His brothers: Kingsley Edgecombe Sr. of McCain’s Long Island, Lincoln Edgecombe of Fort Pierce FL, Luther Edgecombe, Paul Edgecombe Sr. of Freeport Grand Bahama, Stephen Edgecombe of Davie Fl. Nathaniel, Kirkwood, Oral Edgecombe of Raleigh North Carolina and Arlington “Al” Edgecombe. His sisters: Dawn Strong of Davie Fla. and Linda Edgecombe. His nieces: Francine Brennen, Cornella Miller, Joan Chisholm, Betty Isaacs, Lana Edgecombe, Joedell Roberts, Alicia Culmer, Patricia Edgecombe, Val Edgecombe Smith and Cassandra Smith. His nephews: Roy Edgecombe, George “Leslie” Roosevelt and Ted Miller, Kingsley Edgecombe Jr, Travis and Ethan Edgecombe. His adopted children: Dr. Elon Joffre, Sharmaine Deveaux, Alvern Dean, Zoe Cartwright and Cleo Young. Numerous grandnieces and grand-nephews. His dear cousins: Rev. Dr. Rubyann Darling, Rev. Dr. Irene Coakley, Rev. Dr. R.E. Cooper Jr., Fanny Plekta, Primrose Chase, Carmella Conneaux, Bertha Rousseau, Nathaniel and John Cooper, Sybil Cassar, Gloria Rolle, Carolyn Kelly, Lorraine Carey, Corrine Saunders, Gladys Miller, Peter and Reuben Miller, the children of his late cousin Lawrence Edgecombe and Colyn Edgecombe, Clara Gibson and Brenda Edgecombe. His daughter-in-laws: Carolyn Edgecombe, Sisco Smith, Sherrell Clarke and Kathleen Porter. His sons-in-laws: Randolph “Terry” Pickering who predeceased him. His sisters-in-laws: Deloris, Rosetta, Dotlene, Deanthia, Gail and Dellarease Edgecombe. Viewing will be held in the Legacy Suite at Vaughn O. Jones Memorial Center, Mt. Royal Ave. & Talbot Street on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
