Oreal Louise Strachan

unknown - unknown

Oreal Louise Strachan was born on April 29th, 1952 to the late Emerald Smith Farrington and Orr Strachan.
She attended St. Agnes Day school, Oakes Field Secondary and Western Junior and Senior schools.
Oreal worked at Bailey’s Taylor Shop where she sewed police uniforms with her best friend Edith Lockhart (Sister). She worked at Island Merchants, she also worked at The Ministry of Agriculture for the past 17 years, then part-time at Sport’s Locker and Cost Rite where she was loved by whomever she came in contact with. She will be remembered by those whom she prepared wonderfully delicious meals whenever there was a function. Oreal was always willing to help in any and every way. She was very much involved.
Oreal attended St. Agnes Anglican church all her life.
She was a member of the A.C.W. (Anglican Church Women). She travelled with her friends Theresa Caroll, her cousin Crystal Strachan and sometimes with the A.C.W. group, often to the family islands. Whenever she was called upon to do something, she was willing to do so.
Oreal loved her family deeply, with an unconditional love, her children, grandchildren, great-grand child and only son-in-law meant the world to her.
Her home in Dignity Gardens, where she would spend most of her time in ‘Kookie’s Garden’, every flower imaginable must have been in that garden and she knew them by name. Her son Anthon would often coach her to take a break from the garden and get some rest during the early hours of the morning. Every Saturday morning, she and Crystal would go plant shopping and hunting and occasionally Lily and Debbie would accompany them. She would return by her daughter’s home (Tonya), with a huge selection. We often asked her, “Where are you placing these?” Her response was always the same, with a smile she would simply say, “Don’t worry ‘bout that.” She had a passion for her garden.
In September, Oreal began to complain about the problems she had digesting her meals, she was taken to the doctor.
However, we noticed that she wasn’t her joyful self. On October 28th, we took her back to the doctor once more for a second visit. On the morning of October 30th, 2014, our mother slipped away to be with the Lord in his Heavenly Garden.
