William “Billy” Augustus Saunders

William Augustus Saunders, affectionately known as “Billy” was born in Nassau, Bahamas on March 29th, 1929 and educated through the Government Public School System until grade 9. He founded, and was owner and president, of Majestic Tours Limited, which became the largest ground transportation company in The Bahamas, and one of the largest in the Caribbean. Billy was a happy man, who loved life, people, and traveling, but most importantly, he loved his country and his family, for whom he worked tirelessly for all his life. He is pre-deceased by his parents Arnold and Iola Saunders and his wife Iris Saunders of 52 years. He is survived by his three children, Janis, Scott, and William “B.J.” II, daughters-in-law Theres Saunders-Biland and Susan Eldon-Saunders, his four grandchildren Iola (& Chris Knowles), Scott Jr. (& Debbie Adamson-Saunders), Jordan (& girlfriend Monica Risso), and William “AJ” III, and his four great grandchildren Cohen, Tessa, Sadie, and Sage. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Sadie Lowe and Jean Lowe; his nieces and nephews Jimmy Lowe, Linda Lowe-Thompson, Donna Fox, Sandra Eldon, Nita Treco; his grand-nieces and grand-nephews Stephen Thompson & Family, Rachel Assi & Family, and Jodi Lowe: cousins Pastor Vernon Moses, Gus Roberts, Kay Thompson, Pauline Albury, Anne Albury, and Yvonne Roberts. His family, loyal staff, devoted secretary Elizabeth Knowles, loving housekeeper Sylvia Ingraham, and numerous friends and associates all around the world, will dearly miss him.
