Charles “Charlie” White Berry Farrington

unknown - unknown

Mr. Charles White Berry Farrington, better known as “Charlie”, Age 67, passed away peacefully at his home, “Palm Hill”,  surrounded by his wife and two daughters, on Thursday, November 5th, 2015, after a brave, three year battle with esophageal cancer.

Born in Nassau on February 24th, 1948 to the late  Hon. R. R. A. Farrington and Maude Farrington,  Mr. Farrington attended St. Andrews School in Nassau, and was graduated from St. Andrews College in Aurora, Ontario, Canada in 1965 and Babson College in 1969.  He returned to Nassau and joined his father’s company, R. R. Farrington & Sons, a shipping agency on Union Dock.  During his long career in business, he was associated with Bahamas Stevedoring  Services Ltd., Waterfront Trucking Co., E. H. Mundy & Co. including Mundytours, Westwind I and Westwind II, Nassau Cruises Ltd.,  and Inter-Island Feeder Services.

An avid sportsman, he loved to play tennis and was a long standing member of the Nassau Lawn Tennis Club.  When he wasn’t playing tennis or watching it, he loved to watch his favourite football team the New England Patriots. In later life, nothing made Charlie happier or more at peace, than working in his beloved garden, much like his own father. He spent much of his adult life adding to his collection of palms and orchids often remarking that he should have owned and worked in a plant nursery, so great were his love and devotion to plants of all kinds.   Although he enjoyed traveling and especially loved spending time in Maine, he loved nothing more than the waters, beaches and islands of his home, The Bahamas.

Mr. Farrington lives on through his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Sara E. Farrington; daughters Melissa Farrington and Lindsay (Mathew) Mulock.  Grandson, Jack Farrington Boals; brother Richard (Jennifer) Farrington; sister, Wendie (Keith) Bishop.  Nephews Sean (Sarah) Farrington, David (Stephanie) Philipp, and Ian Bishop.  Nieces Dana (Drew Goldman) Farrington and Laura Bishop.  Great-Nephews and Great Nieces Ellie, Katie and Cece Farrington, and Sydney and Jackson Philipp, and Xander and Reid Farrington, and a host of other relatives whom he loved dearly,  including Sally, Andrew and Blaine (Carol) Sweeting, Suzanne (Frank) Mazzarella, Holly (Brian) O’Dell and Aletta (Scott) Hanson, Gail and Kathy O’Connor.  He will be missed by many close and dear friends in Nassau and the world over.

A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street, Nassau on Friday, 13th November, 2015 at 3:00 P.M.

The Very Reverend Patrick L. Adderley, Dean of Nassau and Rector, Christ Church Cathedral will officiate.

If persons should wish to make donations in memory of Charlie, the family would be grateful if they were sent to the Cancer Caring Centre, P.O. Box S.S. 6539, Nassau in Charles W.B. Farrington’s name.
