Alexander Pericles Gregory Maillis

The Honourable (Former) Senator Alexander Pericles Gregory Maillis died peacefully in his sleep at his home during the early hours of Saturday, Oct 3rd, 2015. He was 99.

Senator Maillis was much loved and esteemed by his family and many friends, which includes his wife, Cally to whom he was married for 66 years; his children and their spouses, Pericles and Christina Maillis, Maria and Quentin Chisnall, Charles Maillis and Alexandra Maillis Lynch; his grandchildren and their spouses, Alexander Pericles II and Patty  Maillis, George and Eleni Maillis, Calliope Chisnall- Couchell, Catherine and Jeffrey Mitchell, Alistair and Alexandra Chisnall, Peter and Francheska Maillis, Gregory Maillis, David Maillis, Paul Maillis and Joseph Maillis Lynch; and his great-grandchildren, Maria, Pericles G., Diana, Diane, Eleni, Christina, Sera, Pericles A. and Jackson; and a host of other relatives.

The deceased will be laid in The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on West Street at 6pm  on Sunday October 11th.  There will a pre-funeral prayer service at 6.30pm, followed by refreshments and an opportunity to share memories in the Church Hall.

The funeral service will be held on Monday October 12th at 11am at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on West Street. The Reverend Father Ireneaus Cox will be officiating. Burial and reception will follow at The Maillis Farm, Adelaide. The Reverend Father Ireneaus Cox will be officiating. 

Throughout his long and full life, Senator Maillis lived his love for his beloved Bahamas and fellow Bahamians. He was a man of vision who served fearlessly and selflessly in the political and legal arenas of his time, and always had great concern for both national and international issues. In light of his example, the family requested those wishing to make donations in his honour consider supporting:
