Julia Salome Smith nee Ghiscion

A Funeral Service for the late Mrs. Julia Salome Smith nee Ghiscion of Freeport, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas but formerly of Nassau, The Bahamas, will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Shirley Street, Nassau on Friday, 4th September, 2015 at 1:45 p.m.

Father Kendrick Forbes will officiate and interment will be with to her beloved husband, Frederick Charles Smith, in the Eastern Cemetery, Shirley Street adjacent to St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Cemetery.

Julia Salome Smith, nee Ghiscion, was born in Madaba, Jordan on August 29, 1921 to Isaac Ghiscion Richard and Zarife Alomat. Her family lived in Bethlehem, Palestine, moved to France and then Gonaives in Haiti and during her youth Julia attended Pension Lalue in Port-Au-Prince.
She married the late Frederick Charles Smith on May 29, 1945 and they lived together in Petionville, Haiti until they relocated to Nassau, Bahamas in 1965.
Her late husband, Frederick, passed away on October 6, 1985.
Julia passed away of a heart attack in Freeport, Grand Bahama at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 entering her 94th year.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma Chemaly of Nassau, Gladys Assali Sydenham Smith and Joyce Goitia Smith, both of Freeport and one son, Frederick Smith QC, also of Freeport; her son-in-law, Edouard Paul Chemaly; her grandchildren, Soraya Chemaly Jones and her husband, Thomas Jones, Edward Frederick Chemaly and his wife, Michelle Chemaly , Koralyn Kirsten Sawyer and her husband, Richard Wilson Sawyer, Omar James Chemaly and his wife, Sarah Chemaly, James Assali and Michael Mauch, Patrick Assali and his wife Lorena, Daphne Martino and her husband, Jeffrey Martino; Leyre Goitia, Victor Goitia, Fermin and his wife Erin Goitia, Frederick (Zedi) , Savannah and Chelsea Smith; Great grandchildren, Isabelle , Noel, Caroline, Catarina, Alexander, Nicolette, Cosette Kirsten (deceased) , Omar, Layla, Charlotte, Cecile, Isabella, Julian, Olivia, Jazz, Kai, Naya, Max, Addison and Frederick; her sister, Toya Zuraik and brother, Charles Richard and his wife, Nina; her cousins, Adeline Khoury and family, Jamil Richard and family and Eli Richard and family; her deceased brothers, Georges Richard, Fouad Richard and her deceased sisters, Odia Martino and Jeanne Jean and her nephews and nieces, Myrna Baboun, Ramon Martino, Robert Martino and their families, Michel Zuraik and family, Viviane Dana and family, Betsy (deceased) and family, Maria Richard and family and Michael, Sandra Richard and family, Lisa and family, Lester and Anne Smith and family, Leonard and Christine Smith and family, Daphne and Jack Mruz and family, Peggy and Patrick and family, and many other relatives and friends, including Michelle (Mimi) Thomas, like a daughter to Mrs. Smith, her mother Mildred Thomas and her brother Anthony Thomas, Theresa Chemaly and family, Philippe and Therese Chemaly and family, Marie-Claude and Alexis, Carlo and Betty Jaeger, Nancy and Victor Bourchard, Gloria Ageeb and the Ageeb Family, Wendy Sawyer, Ralph Eickelbeck, Virginia and Bernard Curry, Theresa Palmer, John and Lorraine Philpot, Jean and Bradley Lightbourn, Stephanie and David Roberts, Antoine Ferrier,Henry Lee, Ronnie Knowles, Sonia and Kenny Cartwright, Helida Carroll, Mona and Jerry Cartwright, Yamil and Grey Higgs, Norma Sasso, Nigel and Stephanie Bowe, Pascal Mottet,
