Funeral Service for Melva Vernie Mackey age 79 of Windsor Lane West and formerly of Turnbull, Long Island who died on Monday July 11, 2016 will be held on Friday July 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Union Baptist Church, Taylor Street. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Edris Bowe, Pastor T. G. Morrison and Pastor Anthony Sampson. Interment will follow in Old Trail Cemetery, Old Trail Road.
Her cherished memories will be perpetuated by her five loving children: Alvin, Rosalie ‘Rosie,’ Calvin ‘Kelly’ of Seattle, Washington, Ambrose and Paula of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; grandchildren: Kelita Gibson, Monique, Michelle, Shaniqua, Morne, Marvin and Moral Adderley, Adrian and Andrew Simmons and Jarod Mackey of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; great grandchildren: Rojae and Kaiden Gibson, Sasha, Kevinique, Ronald, Carris, Maya, Moritza, Morgan, Shamyah and Tyler Adderley; brother, Edward Gibson; sisters, Viola Ferguson, Flossie Taylor, Florence Taylor and Rose Gibson; Daughter in Law : Mrs. Diane Turnquest; son-in -law :Mario Simmons; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends including : Roland Gibson, Jacintha Adderley, Pastor William and Lollita Pratt, Mildred and Jessie, the Mackey, Gibson, Hanna, Ellis and Wallace families.
Viewing will be held in the Legacy Suite of Vaughn O. Jones Memorial Center, Mt. Royal Ave. and Talbot Street on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. to service time.
