David Thompson died peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital on June 21st, at the age of 83.
David is survived by his wife, Ann Thompson; daughters, Jennelle Thompson, Charlotte Munzinger, and Joy Thompson; son-in-law Jochen Munzinger; grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson-Stone and Emily Munzinger; siblings, Dorothea Nunez, Donald Thompson, Agatha Sawyer, and Raymond Thompson; brothers-in-law, Samuel Sawyer, Pedro Nunez, Lyman Pinder, Roy Roberts, and Hank Pinder; sisters-in-law, Leone Thompson, Faye Charlow, Ynes Sands, Grace Pinder, Alice Pinder, and Janet Pinder; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends of the family including Ursula Kemp and Dominic Cant.
David was born on April 19th, 1933, in New Providence, to Roland and Gertrude Thompson. He grew up on William Street, on Nassau Harbour, and locally attended Queen’s College. He later relocated to Texas where he served in the United States Army and graduated from North Texas University in 1964, with a degree in Business Administration. He moved back to Nassau and married his wife, Ann, on June 24th, 1966. Together, they welcomed three children, and two grandchildren. His daughters will always remember him as a wonderful father who gave the utmost for his family. David enjoyed boating and the family spent many weekends and summer holidays on the water. A man strong in his faith, David was a dedicated member of his church, Shirley Heights Gospel Chapel, on Mount Royal Avenue.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
The family wish to thank hospital staff and caregivers at Princess Margaret Hospital – Private Medical Ward, as well as Dr. Frederick Smith, Dr. Ian Kelly, Dr. Charles Rahming, and Dr. Dean Tseretopoulos for their continued care and support. A special thank you to all those who showed their support and compassion.
