It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mr. Melville F. Doty, peacefully on Saturday, 1st October, 2016 at his home at Sulgrave Manor, Cable Street, Nassau.
Son of Frank and Veronica Doty, Brother of Geraldine, Robert, Bernice, Howard and Lorraine.
Mel was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and after completing his degree at Ryerson University, he moved to the Bahamas in 1960 where he applied his talent for interior design to the Lyford Cay Development.
Mel was a member of the American Society of Interior Design and the Interior Designers of Canada. He established Melville Doty Interiors in 1981. With his wonderful eye for design and sharp mind he developed an extensive list of clients throughout The Bahamas, the United States, Canada and Europe. Mel was a gentle man who truly loved his Bahamian home and supported many organizations based in Nassau.
A celebration of life and interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Toronto, Canada.
