Funeral Service for Dr. José A. Colaço, aged 69 years of Nassau will be held on Saturday 29th April 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, West Street. Reverend Fr. Glen Nixon will officiate. Cremation will follow.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ema Colaço, née DeSouza, also of Nassau; his son and daughter-in-law, Allan Colaço and Vanessa González-Colaço, of Chappaqua, New York; his son and daughter-in-law, Noel Colaço and Lavina Gangwani-Colaço, of McLean, Virginia; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynette Martins, née Colaço and Dr. Noel Martins, of Center Valley, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Aria, Jay, Cristian, Francesca, Ayla, Caden, Alexa and Ethan; his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice Colaço and Cynthia Colaço, née Barros, of Goa, India; his sister, Blanche D’Souza, née Colaço, of Doha, Qatar; his and many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and close friends in the Bahamas and abroad.
Friends may pay their last respects at Bethel Brothers Morticians #34 Nassau Street, on Friday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
The Colaço family is establishing a scholarship fund in memory of Dr. Colaço to provide educational assistance to deserving children in Nassau. In lieu of flowers or other tokens of sympathy, the family kindly asks that anyone wishing to express their condolences please instead consider making a donation to “The Dr. José A.
