IS ATLANTIS FAILING????...This is an article on the Atlantis Resort and Customer Service that I think is very interesting and accurate as it pertains to our customer service in the Bahamas. http://www.inc.com/matthew-swyers/wha...">http://www.inc.com/matthew-swyers/wha...

A very interesting and accurate read. Our customer service in this country sucks 100%. I wish that many of these persons in the hospitality fields will realize that customers and guest are their bread and butter. Employers need to start reprimanding their employees for their rude behavior and start training them properly so they understand that exceptional customer service is one of the greatest keys to success. I think that our education system is failing us and is completely outdated and is in desperate need of a change. How is the Bahamas supposed to compete globally in this modernized world when our education system has our youth so far behind. I think that the curriculum should be based on the basics - english, math etc- but also subjects that will help push our country forward such as sustainability, agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, engineering, hospitality, international tourism. In other words teach these kids things that can help benefit them as well as the country. We talk about agriculture, horticulture and sustainability but is it being taught in school no so the kids aren't interested in it and this is something that we need, aquaculture could benefit us greatly in my opinion, kids should be learning more about fish farming and ways to implement it in the country. These are all ways in which we can feed the country, create jobs, and maybe even create opportunities where we export more than we import and generate revenue for the country. As it pertains to hospitality and tourism, this is our main source of income, this is our bread and butter so I think that kids should be taught about these fields as early as elementary school and continue into high school, teach them the importance of customer service, and guest relations teach them more about other countries that have flourishing tourism industries and lets adopt some of the practices of these countries and use them in ways that will benefit us. Lets face it many kids will not be afforded the opportunity of going off to college and some may not even want to but at least if they are taught a lot of these things from an early age, when they leave high school they would be educated enough where they can be creative and innovative and create opportunities in which they can succeed and help in moving the country forward. I believe that the Bahamas can be a major powerhouse in the Caribbean region and a leading competitor in the global tourism market. We have to change or we will get left behind.
