Before Game 1, Wainwright had logged 264 2/3 innings this season. Remember when Tigers ace Justin Verlander was in lock-down mode heading into last season's World Series? He had thrown 262 2/3 innings at the time. And then he was shelled in Game 1 by the Giants.

Fatigue doesn't always show up in the form of velocity drops. It can cause issues in command and can affect mechanics.

Lester was dominant against the Cardinals last time out. They were also very unfamiliar with him, so that might help their cause heading into Game 5.

This time around, though, Lester is away from the comfortable confines of Fenway Park. In the regular season, Lester was 7-1 with a 3.09 ERA at Fenway and 8-7 with a 4.21 ERA on the road. In three postseason starts at Fenway, Lester has a 1.25 ERA. In his one road postseason start, he wasn't bad, but he wasn't dominant. He allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings while giving up seven hits and three walks. He only struck out three, while his strikeout rate at home was much better.
