Man questioned after woman suffers serious head injury

FREEPORT – Police are investigating a grievous harm incident that resulted in a young woman suffering a serious head injury.

The 19-year-old victim was admitted to Rand Memorial Hospital late Wednesday, but was airlifted to New Providence on Thursday for further medical attention.

Police have taken a 19-year-old man, believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.   

According to reports, police received a call around 9.15pm on Wednesday in relation to a grievous harm incident that occurred in the Coral Road North area around 9pm.

When police arrived at the scene, the victim had already been taken in a private vehicle to the hospital. Doctors listed her condition as “serious.”

Asst Supt Loretta Mackey, press liaison officer, said the police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them with their investigations to call 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911.
