DRIVING around Nassau, you get this gut feeling that upon completion of the road works, it's going to be a pleasure to drive anywhere in this city, regardless of what the naysayers and the opposition are saying. The road works may be taking longer than expected, but this is what happens when you are dealing with an old city where no town planning was involved. Sometimes decisions are made that are not popular with the masses, but the PM and the FNM government are to be congratulated for making such a decision especially in an election year. No way would the PLP undertake such a challenge. Bahamians don't like change, and if change does come they want it completed in short order. I travel to the US frequently; and road works continue throughout the year much to the detriment of the public. It is accepted because time brings on changes. We have to accept change if we want to move to first world status.
