Macedonia, St Mark's still undefeated

WITH just two more weeks left in the regular season in the Baptist Sports Council's 2012 Basketball League, there are only two teams still undefeated.

Both Macedonia and St Mark's top the men's A and B divisions respectively with perfect 3-0 win-loss records. While Macedonia was idle Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, St Mark's nipped Evangelistic Centre in a low scoring affair 26-25.

The other previously undefeated team going into Saturday's action was Macedonia Number One in the 19-and-under division. However, Golden Gates pulled off a 48-46 decision in overtime to hand Macedonia their first loss.

St Mark's 26, Evangelistic Centre 25

Renardo Benson scored a game high 11 points and Gerrard Jennings had seven, including the winning basket for the undefeated men's team. D'Angelo Griffin had seven and Tio Sands six in the loss.

Golden Gates 48, Macedonia 46

Tameko Higgs came through with three clutch points in the winding seconds as Golden Gates went on to out-score 13-11 in the extra five minutes for the win. The game was tied at 35-35 at the end of regulation.

Higgs finished with nine points but Randy Williams had 14 and both Dominique Beatle and Dustin McKenzie added nine in the win. Delano Forbes scored a game high 16, Van Hutchinson had nine, Anwar Neilly eight and LeVigi Forbes chipped in with seven.

Macedonia No. 1 39, Macedonia No.2 38

Van Hutchinson scored a game high 18 in the win in a match-up of the two teams from the same church. Alexio Newman had 11 in a losing effort.

Eagles Nest 49, St John's 31

Kenneth Pratt scored a game high 17 points and Dario McKenzie added 11 in the Eagles Nest's 19-and-under win. Dionte Strachan had 12 in the loss.
