ORGANISERS of the "Jesus In The Park" event say they will be making the streets "come alive" this Friday. Christian followers are invited to the social outreach event that will be hosted by DJ Godson, also known as DJ Slyfox, in association with Mr J Int'l and Entertainment, at Christie Park.

The Bahamian Reggae artist Gesner Dalmond, also known as Mr J, told Tribune Religion, Jesus In The Park will be DJ Godson's very first social initiative since transitioning from a popular secular DJ to a gospel DJ.

"Having released his Higher Heights mixtape albums one and two and hosting a Gospel Sail-away in 2011, the DJ is truly soaring to higher heights," said Mr J.

According to DJ Godson, he noticed a lot of young men who displayed negative attitudes, aggression and anti-social behavior when he was a basketball coach, holding training sessions on Christie Park. Ever since, he wanted to make a change and do something to help.

"I came to realize that many of our young men are lacking a relationship with God which will guide them in a righteous way of life. They show no desire to attend church or have anything to do with the word of God," said DJ Godson.

He said he believes that because of the lack of knowing God, young people often conduct themselves in such ways.

"The lord inspired me to find a way to reach these individuals and bring them into the fold. Thus, Jesus In The Park came about. Its taking Jesus Christ to the streets, to the people," he said.

Reflecting on his younger days growing up, DJ Godson said modern times are very different. "There is a serious lack of respect for each other and adults alike," he said.

Recalling one of his practice sessions, he said a few young men approached one of his team players and were about to attack him. He expressed how lawless and disrespectful it was, even though there was an adult present. In years gone by, DJ Godson said, such incidents were unlikely to take place in the presence of adults.

He expressed the need for Christians to "go in the highways and reach the people with the transforming word of God."

By organising the upcoming event, he hopes to bring positive messages to all. With the hopes of attracting families from around the Bahamas, there will be a number of special artists making appearances and performing.

There will be performances by Evangelist Emily, formally known as Sweet Emily. According to organisers, she will be singing the sweet melodic tunes of God's awesome work in her life.

There will be performances and appearances from Mr "Pull ya pants up boy" Christian Massive, "who the real super man" DJ Counsellor, "stop likin man" Collage Entertainment, "stop drinking rum" Mr J and many more.

"The treat goes on as many other artistes will grace Christie Park, all in an effort to inspire people to seek a better life in the Kingdom of God," said organisers.

Special guest speaker Corporal Leonardo Burrows of the Royal Bahamas Police Force will also be addressing the audience in attendance.
