Disappointment over Clifton Park

Dear Mr Carey:

I write to express my dismay that the Clifton Park is open only weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Exactly how are Bahamians supposed to enjoy the rich heritage? I was extolling the benefits of taking an “at-home vacation” to my co-worker and we decided to visit the park yesterday (Sunday, August 12, 2012). She had never been there and I hadn’t visited in over a year because I recently had twins. Imagine my shock after driving all the way from Sans Souci, (relatively far in Nassau terms), only to be told by Security that the park was closed!

I don’t know who makes these decisions, but it is an outrage that the park is only open during the 40 hours when I (along with most Bahamians) am at work and we are therefore unable to enjoy the rejuvenation that this sanctuary offers. I would like to suggest that if the park is only going to be open 40 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday should be mandatory; maybe you could sacrifice other slow days, or maybe open shorter hours each day.

Proud of our rich heritage.
