Man dies after stabbing

FREEPORT – Grand Bahama Police are investigating a murder after a young man with multiple stab wounds died in hospital on Sunday evening.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld by police, was admitted to the Rand Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning.

Assistant Police press officer Terecita Pinder said the man was seen by doctors and detained in critical 
condition. She said the victim died sometime after 8pm on Sunday.

The man’s death has been classified as the ninth homicide for the year on Grand Bahama.

Ms Pinder said the stabbing incident occurred at a club on East Sunrise Highway.

She reported that sometime around 3am the victim was involved in an argument with other persons when he was stabbed several times about his body.

He was taken in a private vehicle to the hospital.

No arrest has been made and police are continuing their investigations into the matter.

FIREARM RECOVERED

IN other crime news, police retrieved a loaded firearm but was unable to catch the suspect, who escaped on foot.

According to reports, sometime around 5pm on Friday police officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol in the area of Murchinson Drive when they observed a man acting suspiciously.

The suspect fled on foot on seeing the officers. While giving chase, officers observed the man pull an object from his waist and throw it on the ground.

The suspect escaped, however officers recovered a .9mm firearm and one round of .9mm ammunition.

Investigations are continuing into the matter.
