Thank you to police for safety advice

EDITOR, The Tribune.

ON THURSDAY night, we attended a Community session at New Providence Community Centre on Blake Road organised by the Western District police division.

The Western District is large stretching from I think the Grove and covering the island to the West with four police stations.

The evening was organised by the police and they went to a great deal of trouble to have speakers, slide and video presentations along with a demonstration of equipment to help make your property safe; CCTV and so on.

For the number of people living in the area, the audience was small, which was a shame.

The speakers had some very good ideas and Superintendent Elaine Sands, the office in charge of the Western District, made a good impression and offered the services of her command to us all to help improve security in the area.

Statistics appeared to show that the Western District crime rate was lower than the averages.

I think "Super" Sands deserves a big thank you for bringing her team to meet with the public, for their efforts and hope they continue to try to bring the communities together to combat crime which with the world's economies in crisis can only get worse.
