Ten men held by police

POLICE detained ten men for questioning in two separate operations over the weekend.

The first, "Operation Zero", was held between the hours of 8pm on Friday and 4am on Saturday and resulted in the arrest of nine men.

Four men were arrested following the discovery of dangerous drugs and five were arrested in connection with armed robbery investigations.

The men range in age from 15 to 34 years old. Active investigations continue.

In the second operation, conducted by officers of the Northeastern Division, a 41-year-old Ragged Island Street man was taken into custody for questioning following a housebreaking incident.

Police say officers were on routine patrol in the area of Wulff Road and Mackey Street around 8pm when they arrested the man in connection with a warrant.

A short while later, officers acting on a tip went to Williams Lane where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana inside a garbage bin.

No arrests were made, however police say they are following significant leads.

Officers also confiscated an assortment of electronic equipment and stolen property over the weekend.

According to reports, officers acting on information went to the rear of a business on Wulff Road around 9pm on Friday.

They discovered the items and a shotgun inside an abandoned vehicle.

No arrests were made. Active police investigations continue.
