Stubbs case delayed

STEPHEN “Die” Stubbs’ indictment to the Supreme Court for an abetment to murder charge was delayed by two weeks.

This means that the 37-year-old of Ridgeland Park will return to the Magistrate’s Court on July 18 to be served with a Voluntary Bill of Indictment that will forward his matter directly to the higher court for trial.

Stubbs is accused of aiding and abetting the August 21, 2009 murder of Delano Morris, who

was shot to death on Brougham Street.

When he last appeared in Magistrate’s Court a month ago for the arraignment, Stubbs was not required to enter a plea to the charge. He was remanded to prison without bail being considered.

He was told that the Voluntary Bill of Indictment will fast track the case to the Supreme Court, bypassing a lengthy pre-trial in Magistrate’s Court.

Stubbs is defended by attorney Krysta Mason-Smith.
