Appalling treatment of Hubert Ingraham

It is appalling the treatment being given to the honourable member by the House of Assembly after fifteen years of service as a member of that body. They all know that they should have obliged by calling a special session of the House for the honourable member of such long standing to bid goodbye to his constituents and to the people of The Bahamas whom he has served with great distinction. Even students were allowed to use the chambers on many occasions for their debates. Other persons have been allowed for various reasons. Are they that insecure about themselves? Where are the Christian citizens and members of the clergy or elder statesmen that they cannot educate the present members in the art of  politeness and when to extend the usual courtesies of giving honour where honour is due? What is this nation coming to?

Are we like little Nazis under Hitler and the Third Reich afraid to speak out for right? Remember during the Hitler regime, Germans would turn in to the regime even Jewish doctors who had attended to their sick because they were afraid of the regime. Of course there is a lot to be said about the behaviour and the attitude towards others by some in this country, but Bahamians will have to see for themselves. Remember if it is done to one person it definitely will happen to you, fellow citizens.
