Police officers do an excellent job

EDITOR, The Tribune.

PLEASE allow me a small space in your esteemed newspaper to express my profound pleasure to recall an incident that has left a renewed and indelible impression of our local police force.

On Thursday, April 19, 2012, around 1pm I was returning to work from lunch and while driving along Clifton Pier, I noticed a small crowd near a track road looking towards the sea and a police car to my left. Curious, I stopped and investigated the assembly. I was told that a woman had her son and was about to jump overboard. Being a father and husband, I became very concerned. I understood that police officers were with the mother and her son trying to urge them to safety. Shortly after that, I saw a police officer in uniform coming through the track road with a small boy five-seven years old in his hands.

After getting to the main road he put him in the police car and went back through the track road. I was talking with other persons present when I noticed a young man come on the scene identifying himself as the husband and father of the lady and young boy. Then suddenly, the officer and another guy in a towel came through the track road with a young lady and placed her in the police car. It was great to learn that she was the mother of the young boy and we clapped. I then realised that the young man who assisted with bringing her out was also a police officer when he put on his uniform. They were congratulated on a job well done by all present.

I didn't get the officers names as they left with the family quickly, but I just wanted to convey to the Commissioner of Police, the police force, and indeed the entire nation that these officers did an excellent job and should be commended for their efforts.
