Two hurt in GB shootings

FREEPORT - Two men were shot in separate incidents on Grand Bahama over the weekend, police reported.

The first shooting occurred around 1.46am on Saturday at Weddell Avenue, where a 47-year-old man was discovered with a gunshot injury to the body.

Asst Supt Loretta Mackey reported that officers went to the scene where they discovered a dark male lying on the ground in the area of the wash house.

The victim had been shot on the left side of his back. He was taken to Rand Memorial Hospital, where he is detained.

Ms Mackey said police were also called to the College of the Bahamas Northern Campus, where a man was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound early Sunday morning.

According to reports, sometime around 2.45am police received a report that a 29-year-old male resident of Freeport was in the area of Freetown with other persons when he was shot.

The victim was taken to the college, where an ambulance was summoned. From there he was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he has been detained.
