Dancers and enthusiasts flooded the Atlantis Imperial Ballroom Saturday, for the second annual Bahamas Dance and International Ballroom Showcase.

Under the theme “A Dance for Life”, organiser Indira Francis described the event as a huge success with hundreds turning out for the event.

"It was absolutely fantastic. It is not just about salsa dancing, it is about dancing period. In fact, the whole crowd got up to do the merengue slide at one point, so everyone had a chance to participate," said Ms Francis.

The showcase featured cover dance styles including but not limited to salsa, bachata, merengue, cha cha, tango and the waltz. The world-class event was hosted in association with World Promotions Inc., with international cabaret dance professionals flying to dance alongside the local team .

The Bahamas Salsa Social Network seeks to provide the community, especially the youth, with fun and safe entertainment, engaging them in wholesome social activity with a view to mentoring and grooming them to become well-rounded citizens.

The vision of the network is to succeed at promoting youth and adult dance programmes for local and international competitions and providing a platform for individuals to act as cultural ambassadors abroad, while at the same time producing law-abiding citizens who will make a positive contribution to the future growth of the Bahamas.
