Living in purpose: Part 1

By Allison Miller

“If you’re having a bad day put your hand on your chest. Do you feel that thing beating? Its purpose, God has something for you to do.” Ricardo Clarke

A few weeks ago we were talking about purpose. In that article I said that I witness people bored with life because they are living outside of their God given purpose. What I failed to say was how we are to get our purpose.

The first thing you would need to do is have a relationship with Jesus Christ. To have him in our lives is the ultimate guide to what and who we should be. I believe that until we have a relationship with God we do not know who we are.

When that happens we are interested in what is it that God has for me to do. Living in purpose gives perspective to life. Do you know how fulfilling that is to know what you were born to do?

Often times we confuse our abilities with our purpose. Because I have the ability to make a pizza does not mean I was born to be a chef. I can make pizza; anyone can do that. I must ask myself; does making pizza change my life or other lives? Does it have an impact and if so is the impact negative or positive.

Purpose is the best way to live. An author wrote that we should live purpose driven lives. Let purpose drive us each day. If all of us found out what God has design for us for we would live meaningful lives. When I die I want it to be said of me that I did all that God purposed me to do.
