A NEW Christian group is seeking to present wholesome Christian fun with their first ever gospel event. Powerhouse Production and Entertainment is set to host The Power of Praise on December 7 at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

The concert is stocked with a host of gospel artists, including: Psalmist Monique Curry, Psalmist Alishia Culmer, Jerome Hill, Danisha Rolle, Jacinta, Rolle, Evangelist Anthony Williamson, Leon Taylor, Rev Terrance Forbes, Brother Hubert McIntosh, Clifford “Big Boy” Riley, and Brother John Darville. Special guest artist include The Sons of Cat Island and The Surge Youth Chorale.

“For this event we wanted to bring out the talented individuals who do not have an opportunity otherwise to showcase their gifts. This event is going to be a transforming one, a time of deliverance. If you are someone without any kind of direction you can get some at this event,” he said.

Rev George Bodie, president of the group, said Powerhouse was born out of a desire too see more events geared to Christians and the family. He said Power of Praise is just the first of many events that will cater to this need.

“Our drawback if the fact that there is very little to do on weekends for Christians. You go to dinner, you go to see a movie and once in a while there is play showing. This was the reason why we came together because we wanted to present Christian and family activities. A Christian life is not boring and we want to show people that they can indeed have fun as a Christian,” he said.

Rev Bodie believes if individuals are occupied with wholesome fun, they can be empowered, leaving little room to engage in violent or negative activities.

“With the many adverse conditions around us and the rise of crime in our society we have given ourselves genesis to do some things and help others as we move to empower young people and older persons,” said Rev Bodie.

“We know that by ministering to large masses we will be able to reach out to more persons and also achieve more through ministry. We will be able to assist,” he said.

Powerhouse will also take its ministry to the Family Islands. They intend to host a number of events to touch the lives of those living in the Family Islands. As the group grows it will also direct attention to at risk young men, Rev Bodie said.

“We want to develop strong bonds and close relationships with the community at large and touch the Family Islands as well. We will be organising events both there and in New Providence. Our vision is to do more in ministry by way of maximizing the potential to assist families and charitable organisations.”

Additionally, Rev Bodie said it is also Powerhouse’s aim be charitable in all of its efforts. For this reason proceeds from the Power of Praise event will be donated to the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Group.
