Issues in Bahamian society

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Cleola Hamilton must resign immediately

I totally agree with Jennifer Isaac Dotson and a few others that there is a conflict of interest or interest of conflict if there is ever such a thing.

Cleola Hamilton is spreading herself too thin, she wants to eat her cake and have it too, she is definitely wearing too many hats. She is not meticulous and pays no attention to detail. Hamilton’s campaign office is never available for her constituents on the regular Thursday evenings because she is never there.

Just recently the phones to Hamilton’s South Beach campaign office were off for over an entire week. In my opinion Cleola does a poor job at delegating and/or returning calls or having her secretary delegated to call. Also it is my opinion that she is too distracted and unfocused.

This is very frustrating and disappointing. Remember the old adage, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Dear, Cleola darling if the post of representing your South Beach constituents is above your head it is not too late, please do us a favour and give the task to someone who can get the job done. It appears that we made a mistake in voting this woman to parliament.

Taxes and more taxes

In serious times such as these when people are living in their car and sleeping under the Paradise Island Bridge and unemployed, Fred Mitchell wants to raise the price of passports. The American Embassy has no class ceiling on visas. From $100 to $130 to $160 and soon to be $190 for visas fearless Fred jump on that, you bad!

You see not everybody is a member of parliament. Everyone believe Bahamians have money coming out of their backsides like wet wipes coming out of a dispenser.

For an educated man V Alfred Gray is too pompous, loud and boisterous; when you want them to pay their taxes. There are ways to do and say things, every time Gray opens his mouth he makes the Bahamian people shame. I agree that the Potter’s Cay vendors need to keep current with taxes but be sensible about it.

Sir Sidney should not have bridge named after him

Sir Sidney Poitier Oscar winner did nothing for the youth when it comes to putting on workshops and acting clinics; it seems to me that he acts as though he is ashamed of his Bahamian roots.

Fred Mitchell is out of order for lobbying for Sidney Poitier. If Sir Sidney is foolhardy enough to give gifts anonymously that’s his business, but as far as I am concerned he did absolutely nothing.
