POLICE yesterday said two men living in Harbour Island were arrested after they were found, in two separate cases, with dangerous drugs.

In the first seizure, Drug Enforcement Unit officers carried out a search warrant on the home of a 34-year-old man and uncovered a quantity of marijuana.

He was arrested, police said, at around 12.25am on Thursday.

In the other incident, a 45-year-old man was arrested after police, acting on a search warrant, found $3,000 in cash and a quantity of marijuana at his home. DEU officers took the man into custody at 5.40pm Thursday.

Police said they are continuing to investigate both cases.

Meanwhile, police issued more than 150 traffic tickets to motorists for various violations.

In keeping with the RBPF’s 2012 policing plan, officers took to the streets of New Providence and conducted an aggressive campaign on people breaking traffic laws.

“Operation October Storm” took place on Thursday between 10am and 12.30pm.

As a result, 58 people were ticketed for driving an unlicensed vehicle, 34 issued cited for driving without a seat belt, and 23 people who drove in the wrong direction on a one way street were given traffic tickets.

Eleven others were cited for having dark window tints, seven for driving without proper third party risk insurance and seven more for causing obstructions in the street.

Five motorists were given tickets for various infractions including failing to keep left, failing to stop at a traffic light and driving buses off their regular route.

Police are reminding the public to adhere to the rules of the road to ensure order during the daily commute.
