PM threat to voters in Abaco

EDITOR, The Tribune.

On listening and reading the utterances spewing from the mouths of PLP politicians I wonder sometimes about the Bahamian populace.

The PM (Perry Christie) at a rally in Abaco told those in attendance that nothing would be done for Abaco if their candidate is not elected, and the crowd cheered. Can you believe it! This coming from a man whose pre-election slogan was "we are for all Bahamians"?

If those words came from former PM Hubert Ingraham all hell would have broken loose. You would have heard from all the talk shows, union leaders, Bradley Roberts, Fred Mitchell and the PLP's at large. As long as it comes from the PLP… mum is the word. ZNS highlighted a news item about a debt FNM candidate Greg Gomez incurred five years ago and made an agreement to settle with monthly payments, but nothing about what a certain PLP politician owes BEC or about another PLP candidate associating with an individual who is before the courts on a drug charge. Again, because it's PLP… mum is the word.

Cleola Hamilton still heads the Nurses Union, and is being called on to resign; but the likes of Shane Gibson, Fred Mitchell, and PM Perry Christie sees no conflict of interest. Again if this happened under the FNM the entire nursing profession would have been up in arms and ready to demonstrate in Rawson Square. Because it's PLP, again mum is the word. The road works are finally taking shape and it will be a pleasure to drive along the streets of New Providence. It may have caused the FNM to lose the election, but the former PM had the guts to do it. This country is not about PLP's and FNM's, but for all Bahamians. The quicker PM Perry Christie and the PLP realises this the better off this country will be.
