Bahamians set to share best practices at Africa and Southeast Asia Business Forum

THREE Bahamians have been invited to address Africa and Southeast Asia 
Business Forum 2012 (AFRICSEA) in 
Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Sandton Convention Centre from November 1 to 2.

COB Council Chairman and Managing Partner of Sears and Co, Alfred Sears, Anthony Kikivarakis, Chairman of the Bahamas Maritime Authority and Chairman and CEO of Kikivarakis and Co, and Dr Brendamae Cleare, President of the LJM Maritime Academy of the Bahamas have been invited to share best practices of the Bahamas in the maritime industry, commercial law, education and human capital development.

Mr Sears will participate on the panel “Investing in Human Capital”. He also will be a panelist with Dr Cleare on the panel entitled “Maritime, Shipping, Transportation and Logistics”, which will be chaired by Mr Kikivarakis.

The aims of the conference are to achieve the following: to promote the Southern-Eastern African region as a potential investment destination; increase Asian FDI in the region through providing exposure to investment opportunities; learn from best practices to develop sustainable business models and approaches to country development; strengthen trade and economic ties between the two regions; and build business linkages and create new dynamic partnerships.

For the Bahamian panelists, the conference will provide an opportunity to share best Bahamian practices and learn of best practices in Africa and Southeast Asia in the areas of investments, partnerships, project financing, education and human capital investment, maritime, shipping, agri-business, infrastructure and energy development.
