I would like to take some time to address the issue of Cable fees being raised.
It appears that there will be no public meeting in Eleuthera for residents to voice their objections so I am voicing mine here.
I make it clear that I own a very good number of shares in Cable Bahamas. I also make it clear that I have serious issues with the rental fees being raised at this time when poor people in this country are suffering from economic woes.
I have read where it is said that Cable has not had an increase since it started. Well blow me down. If I am not mistaken when I started with Cable I could watch every T. V. in my house and get different channels on each T V for $30.00 per month. Now Cable has been allowed (what it should never have been allowed to do) to make all Customers have a Black Box for each TV in the house and to pay for each Black Box. It amazes me that no one thinks this is a raise because in the beginning if you had 3 TV’s you were paying $30.00 per month and now if you have those same 3 TV’s it is costing a minimum of $90.00 per month.
There must be something wrong with my Calculator because what is happening now is a ridiculous raise .
In Florida you can get Direct TV for about $30.00 to $40.00 per month and watch what you want on every TV in your house whenever you feel so inclined to do so. Why should we, because we live in the Bahamas, have to pay for each TV that is in the house?
I understand that Cable’s net earnings last year was $20,000,000, well if that is true as much as I like to make money I do not agree with a raise at this time. I have always lived by the principle that it is wrong to oppress the poor to increase your riches and I am not going to change that now.
What we need is another Station to provide competition so that the prices can go down and not UP. I truly believe that BTC if left alone would soon be able to provide that competition and thus make it better for Bahamians who are now addicted to watching TV and would find it difficult to live without it.

As a customer of CB, I pay my bills six months in advance for each of my several accounts. I am currently paid in full up until the end of December 2012. Suddenly, none of my TV's work.
I spoke with CB by phone this evening, after waiting for 30 minutes on the phone, and was told that if I did not buy or rent a box for each of my TV's, I would not get ANY service. Well, how do you like that? I have prepaid for a service which now they refuse to deliver.
I think I will cancel my subscription and demand my money back. I am tired of the poor quality of programming and lack of service provided to customers here in Abaco.
CB has no respect for its Abaco customers! No resident Customer Service. They tell you that you have to leave your job and stay home all day so that they can install a box that you do not want, but will cost you money each month.
They can take their box and firmly place it where the sun does not shine.
Sorry, Abner your dividend will go down when we ALL close our accounts.

Abner complains about service when the people in South Eleuthera still dont have Cable - lol - My point simply is besides bad and sporadic service, creative ways to generate revenues thru late fees, reconnection fees, packages for everything under the sun - CB HAS STILL NOT LIVED UP TO IT CONTRACT TO PROVIDE SERVICE. The signal in Wemyss Bight has been frozen since before the olympics and the people are still waiting

The people should do something about it. Maybe if it will exist another cable company they will not raise the rental fees again. At my home I have television from http://www.channelchoicetv.com/">Channel Choice TV and it works great.
