Activist Moncur seeks return of hanging

Justice of the Peace

OUR leaders have lost control of our country: our leaders have eaten sour grapes and now our children’s teeth are on edge.

Our leaders have removed hanging, the critical fear factor, from over the heads of wild and violent young men, and now fear hangs over the heads of us all.

Our country is wracked by the most loathsome social disease of total lack of fear for taking another person’s life, because our lawyer-leaders have shamelessly, consistently and persistently, driven madly and blindly by their perverted and foolish philosophy against capital punishment, aided, abetted and defended in the courts, the perpetrators of deadly violence and lawlessness.

While the Commissioner of Police, on one hand, is lamenting in Fox Hill Square that the police, “have been arresting young men and women until we are blue in the face” but “they seem not to be afraid of us, the system”, the Minister of National Security, on the other hand, is cowering hopelessly, helplessly and pathetically somewhere in fear, offering the Bahamian people impotent assurances of protection.

The late Sir Lynden, in an Independence Paper in 1973, prophesied that the greatest threat to national security would not be from outside the country but rather from inside. Today, that prophecy has been fulfilled.

This is a grave situation, indeed. The Prime Minister is called upon to declare a State of Emergency immediately. There must not only be a “lock-down” at the Princess Margaret Hospital, there must be a lock-down through this country.

The Progressive Liberal Party government has lost control.

Parliament must therefore be dissolved immediately; and new general elections must be called with dispatch, so that the Bahamian people can choose a parliament in which no member is opposed to hanging murderers and which will remove swiftly any and all impediments, real and perceived, to carrying out the capital punishment laws that have been on the law books of this nation, from the time it was founded hundreds of years ago.

Mr. Moncur, What is the point of you declaring a return to hanging when the justice system can't convict anyone to make them eligible for the hangman's noose? Your statements are irresponsible and shortsighted. Stop working on emotionalism and think about a few fundamental solutions.

We got the death penalty on the street ,and its faster then any court could dish it out ,and thats not stopping the criminals from robbing and killing one another ,,BIRTH CONTROL AND FAMILY PLANNING ,,which won,t be used b/c of our archaic believes and irresponsible sexual habits ,therefore crime and poverty will only increase
