ATLANTIS LOCAL launched

IN ORDER to create a stronger connection and improve ties with the Bahamian community, the Atlantis resort has launched a new social media presence called ATLANTIS LOCAL.

Now live on Facebook, the page will feature news, human interest stories and photo albums, event promotions and specials as well as fun updates from the Bahamian tourism mecca.

In addition to Facebook, a Twitter profile (@Atlantis
Local) and a YouTube channel have also been created to support the effort.

“We recognised the growth of social media a number of years ago and our guest-focused Facebook page ‘Atlantis Resort’ has been a leader and trendsetter among competing brands,” said Katie Longley, director of public relations.

“We felt it was time to engage our local stakeholders, employees and supporters in the dynamic ways they communicate now, on their computers and mobile devices. Not only can we get our messages to them more directly, now they can provide us with feedback easier and faster.”

Driving force behind the effort, PR manager Eric Hall, said Atlantis has always been an industry pacemaker.

“Most people still remember the success of our TV news magazine ‘Kerzner Today’ that ended in early 2009.

“Since then a lot has changed in the way our audiences get their information. Asking someone to be in place at a particular time to watch one run of a programme is not realistic anymore. People like their information delivered to them quickly and concisely,” said Mr Hall.

“With this new presence we can deliver expanded coverage in multiple formats exactly when people want it – any time.”

Locals were encouraged to “like” the Facebook page and follow Atlantis Local on Twitter in order to stay in touch with all things Atlantis, including promotions, job postings, news stories and announcements.
