THE Roman Catholic School Board, administrators, faculty, teachers, parents and students said farewell to St Bede’s Catholic Primary School at a banquet at SuperClubs Breezes.

The event marked the final official event for the school, which closed its door for good at the end of the school year.

St Bede’s, along with Our Lady’s School, were closed by the Catholic Board as a result of the decline in their student enrolment in the last few years.

The banquet was held under the patronage of Sister Marva Coakley, the principal of St Bede’s.

Heading the list of dignitaries in attendance was Mrs Claudette A Rolle, the Director of Catholic Education.

Members of the Sisters of St Martin’s Convert, some of whom played a role as administrators at St Bede’s in the past, were also in attendance at the banquet, organised by the Parents Teachers Association headed by Michelle Mortimer.

The banquet paid tribute to its former principals, past and present teachers, PTA presidents and parents who made significant contributions to the school over the years.

Among the honorees were: Randol Dorsett, Jacintha Goffe, Emily Lockhart and Vanta Culmer.

The Master of Ceremonies was Val Maura, who entertained the audience with his lively interaction.

Special presentations were also made by St Bede’s Dance Troop and the Rake ‘n Scrape band.

Students Edward Munroe and Madison Major performed a duet to the song: “It’s so hard to say goodbye.”
