New fair date set for Red Cross

The Bahamas Red Cross Society has served The Bahamian community over the past 70 years, easing the suffering of Bahamians through the ravages of hurricanes, floods, fires and poverty.

Efforts of the organisation to stage its main fundraiser, the annual Red Cross Fair on March 3, were negatively impacted due to the inclement weather conditions, resulting in a serious shortfall of expected goals.

“The funds we were expecting to raise were not realized. As a result, we were left with outstanding commitments unpaid as well as important programs we run for the elderly, shut-ins, the poor and others who are experiencing challenging times, were severely impacted and run the risk of being scaled down,” stated the organisation in a press release.

“The Bahaman public has stood with us in ensuring this important work continues and for this we are ever grateful,” stated the organisation.

In this regard, the Red Cross is asking the public and private sector, civic and community organisations to once again partner by providing support to the steak-out and mini fair to be held on March 23, Noon, at the Lower Gardens Government House grounds..

“You can support our steak-out and mini-fair by purchasing tickets, bringing your family and friends out to the grounds for fun, food and games, as well by spreading the word to others. It is only with each of us playing our small part, we can contribute to relieving the suffering and discomfort of many. Thank you again for your support over the years and we the Red Cross look forward to seeing you at our steak-out and mini fair.”
