BEFORE writing the “Wedding In Nassau” dramatic comedy, director Dario “Erics” Poitier said he had doubts about how people would receive his work.

After Saturday’s final showing of the play at the Living Waters Kingdom Ministry Church, the director said he is not only being compared to well known local play writer and author James Catyln, but some even compared his work to the internationally acclaimed Tyler Perry.

A “Wedding In Nassau” is about an Indian heiress who grew up in the Bahamas after her family migrated in the 1930’s. Growing up in the Bahamas, she assimilated into Bahamian culture life. However, her traditional parents were furious when they learned of her decision to marry outside of her culture

“Overall I was very much satisfied with the turn out of the event. It was my first stage play and I didn’t think people would have taken me serious, but I am glad that many showed up and cheered me on. Not many people can say that they succeeded at their first attempt. I am eternally grateful to God and to everyone that challenged me to entertain them,” said Mr Poitier.
He said he is overwhelmed and humbled with the compliments and best wishes he received after the play. Mr Poitier said patrons recommended the play as a “must see”.

“It’s crazy that I transformed a major wedding into a stage play. I would love to turn it into a short film or maybe a sitcom, but overall I am satisfied with three successful showings. I have already started writing and planning another play. This one will be twice as good. It will again be the talk of town. It will have you on the edge of your seat. Stay tuned Bahamas, a new style of play writing has arrived,” said Mr Poitier.
