Bahamas' Emily Morley to row in championships

Ithaca College women’s crew team has been selected by the NCAA to compete in the upcoming Division III Rowing Championships May 31 to June 1 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bahamian Emily Morley, the top freshman recruit for Ithaca, earned her spot as the only freshman on the Varsity 1 boat and will be rowing in the fifth seat.

Morley recently finished 2nd at the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships and together with their consistent performance throughout the season earned one of the top eight Division 3 collegiate berths to compete this weekend.

Throughout the season, Ithaca women’s crew consistently improved their NCAA ranking and finished the season ranked 6th overall.

Even though Morley finished her classes and final exams more than two weeks ago, she and her teammates have remained at college to continue their training in preparation for the upcoming NCAA Championships.

Ithaca’s coach, Becky Robinson, is “confident that the team is ready to compete at this year’s championships” and she is hopeful that her girls will finish in the top 5.

Ithaca College last competed at the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships in 2011, placing 4th, and won the Championships in 2004 and 2005.
