Hawksbill Agreement

EDITOR, The Tribune.

This Kylin International proposal and the photograph appearing in today’s Guardian Business section raises yet again the question – why hasn’t Mr McDonough, President of Kylin asked for a legal opinion as to whether the covenants of the 1955 Hawksbill Agreement disallow his proposals?

Surely it is time someone in the Office of the Prime Minister or Ministry for Grand Bahama advises the gentleman that he is wasting a lot of time and money on this pipe-dream as good as it might be.

Hawksbill provides for the exclusive Harbour - Airport - Power Station for starters - in the Kylin proposal they plan to build all of the above for their proposal.
It is further interesting that Kenneth Russell, the past advocate of this project, is not in the photograph, but he has been carrying the load and lobbying for years.

Google - Zhejiang Orient Engineering and you will find they specialise in power stations and heavy civil engineering not a single tourism hospitality development and we are going to take them seriously?

Minister Darville please advise these folk they are wasting their time amending Hawksbill will cost the government millions because the GBPA isn’t going to give up their monopoly for nothing.
