Police investigate woman's sudden death

POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a woman late Monday night.

According to reports, sometime before 9pm a man went into the Carmichael Road Police Station and reported that he thought his friend had died in the passenger seat of his car.

The man reportedly told officers that his 50-year-old friend was gasping for air and complaining of headaches. When officers went to investigate, they saw a woman who appeared to have stopped breathing.

She was rushed to hospital in an ambulance, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say an autopsy will have to be performed to determine the cause of death. Investigations continue.

• In other crime news, a 16-year-old boy in recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in the shoulder while walking home.

It happened around 6:30am Monday.

According to reports, the victim was walking on East Street South when a man stabbed him in his shoulder with an unknown object before fleeing on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
