Epworth Hall renamed The Sir Duward Knowles Auditorium

THE Ebenezer Methodist Church family showed their appreciation to Sir Durward Knowles for his support, not only to their church, but to the community at large.

On Sunday, the church renamed Epworth Hall as The Sir Durward Knowles Auditorium. The ceremony took place on Sunday after the regular morning service.

During the regular church service, Rev Dr Godfrey A Bethell, pastor of Ebenezer Methodist Church, said that Sir Durward is worthy of this honour and it was the members of the church who approved the renaming of Epworth Hall, as a small token of showing their gratitude.

Sir Durward was surrounded by family and friends who attended the service and renaming of the auditorium. He was surprised when his 99-year-old sister flew in from Abaco for the occasion. Sir Durward commented that this was a most pleasant surprise.

Among those who showed up were Sir Orville Turnquest, former governor-general of the Bahamas, Brent Symonette, former deputy leader of the Free National Movement and Wellington Miller, president of the Bahamas Olympic Committee.

According to many members of the church, Sir Durward has supported every ministry and so it was only fitting that the church gave back to such a generous member.

The naming of Epworth Hall to Sir Durward Knowles Auditorium was their way of showing their appreciation.

Sir Durward said he was touched by the occasion and commented that he was grateful and encouraged others to continue to help those who need help.

“God loves a cheerful giver,” he said during the ceremony.

Epworth Hall will now be known as Sir Durward Knowles Auditorium.
