Every time the Deputy Leader of the Free National Movement, Hon Loretta Butler-Turner, slams the PLP with facts everyone starts “catching feelings”. The governing party cannot resist resorting to their modus operandi, wallowing in the mire. The same nasty comment that was visited on Carlton Francis and others is what they resort to when the heat in the kitchen gets to boiling point.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why the wife of a highly respected attorney, a mother of two lovely children, the sibling of a former treasurer of the PLP, the daughter of a most notable mortician and his wife, both deceased, the grand daughter of the first Bahamian Governor General, Sir Milo B Butler and other siblings and family, most of whom are full figured, have to be reminded of what she knew for decades.

I did not hear them say she was ugly, dumb, could not speak or had no class. They insist on wasting time expressing the obvious. I know for sure, I would feel like my time is well spent if I am with an intelligent, beautiful classy lady who has the courage, tenacity, wisdom and personality to now be mentioned as a possible candidate to lead a party and YES even be the Prime Minister of this beloved Bahamas.

Is this what the exercise is all about, to weaken what is shaping up to be a groundswell of people who are clamouring for a lady with guts to lead us? Does the PLP see or hear the murmurings now getting louder. Does the PLP now understand that there is a chance that the first female PM will not come from their ranks?

Enough pussyfooting, Loretta Butler-Turner is a force to be reckoned with. There is no need to be whispering anymore. The Bahamian people are seeing and hearing for themselves, they see who is making sense and who is not. They know who has courage and who is “scared to death”.

The tactic to embarrass Mrs Butler-Turner is counterproductive, she is confident, bold and loaded with the wherewithal to ascend the ladder, when the time comes.

I see no reason why so much time is wasted on her size when it is a non-issue. There are so many unexplained things that the PLP should hasten to explain, not muddy the water with foolishness. Just explain the mystery surrounding the $650m, where, when, who and how. Clarify who was getting what and who else was promised.

Explain why the Critical Care Block to the Princess Margaret cannot be opened. Explain why GE is frustrated. Explain how many dummy companies have been formed to facilitate the equipment of the Care Block.

Also explain why there is an obvious plan to make sure the Freedom of Information Act will not see the light of day under the PLP, because they never wanted to enlighten the masses, remember one radio station for decades.

These are some of the things what the government of the day should be saying to the people. They should have enough shame and respect for the people’s mentality to come clean even if they have to come roughdry.

Now leave Loretta Butler-Turner alone, she will be just fine, you just wait and see! Something could be done with her weight, but nothing could be done with a dumb, ugly, classless person with low self-esteem.

I could say far more, but I think people with a few senses get my drift.

I am totally unafraid. I am thankful to God for removing the tumour, not my senses, which are now laser sharp!
