IN celebration of the legendary Bob Marley’s birthday weekend, All Star Productions will present international artists Chronixx, Jah Bouks, The ZincFence Redemption Band and Kelissa live in concert.

This Saturday, Club Luna will have a roots and culture vibe, as each artist takes to the stage.

The headliner, Chronixx, will be singing hits such as “Access Granted” “Behind Curtain” and many more. Jah Bouks became popular for his most recent hit “Angola,” and he’s prepared to give it his all for the Bahamian crowd.

According to reggaeville.com, Kelissa recently teamed up with ‘Zinc Fence Records’ to produce her first Extended Play (EP) project. “The first single off the project ‘Love Letter’ is an “Afromantic” prelude of Kelissa’s soulful, poetic and world beat music, that not only provides a reservoir of her life experiences but also a spring that never seems to fail in inspiring others,” the website stated.

Event organiser and promoter, Tehran Carroll, said as far as the artists that are out today, he doesn’t think they could have found any two artists making more of a buzz than Chronixx and Jah Bouks, to bring forth Bob Marley’s positive message.

“Jah Bouks and Chronixx - the messages behind their music shine light on peace and love. The Angola track, it is all talking about Africa and colonisation. I would say it is just kind of a thing to remind us of our roots. I think in the Bahamas, we lose track of the whole Caribbean/African part of our society because it is not really celebrated. It is all about the glitz and glamour of the United States or whoever happens to be visiting us,” said Tehran.

He said the concert is going to be a stepping stone to making a positive social change in the Bahamian community.

“It seems to be like everyone is excited for the concert. It is a lot of good vibes from what I have gathered. You just don’t know with a Bahamian crowd though because you can have so much buzz surrounding an upcoming concert, and then no one shows up. We are just hoping for the best. I think it is going to be good,” said Tehran.

Cassanova, of All Star Promotions, said positivity is the key and right now, Bahamians need to stay positive and show solidarity during these trying times.

“Bob Marley’s hallmark message was ‘one love equals solidarity plus unity.’  This is a fitting time for this tribute concert, not only because we are celebrating Bob Marley’s birthday (February 6), but it’s also Black History Month in the USA. When people speak of great black figures in history, they speak of Bob Marley in the same breath as Martin Luther King, Marcus Garvey and Rosa Parks,” said Cassanova.

He said though Bahamians haven’t shared the identical fates as American blacks or some of their impoverished Caribbean neighbours, most Bahamians can identify with Bob Marley’s message and the continuing struggles they face in the Caribbean/third world post colonialisation.

“All of these artists have positive uplifting messages, but they don’t sugarcoat things either, they are conscious of the problems that affect the Third World today and bring light to that in their message,” said Cassanova.

The preparty for the concert will be happening this Friday at Harry’s Hut, Arawak Cay, with an opportunity to meet and greet the artists.
