Two distinguished teenagers celebrated in Andros

At a time when many people seem to be losing hope in young people, the inhabitants of the ‘Big Yard’ Andros came together in a spirit of joy and hope as they celebrated the achievement of two teenagers David Romer and Asia Rolle for their contribution to church and society. David Romer of North Andros High School was honoured as server of the year 2013 for St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Mastic Point, Andros and Asia Rolle of North Andros High School honoured as server of the year 2013 for St. Margaret Church, Nicholls Town, Andros. In his speech, the Reverend Father Jude Edomwonyi, Priest in Charge of St. Margaret’s Parish said, “An altar server serves God through his service in the church. The servers are instrumental in helping the services to run smoothly. Servers also aid in the worship of the other congregation members. Servers are leaders in the church through the examples they set at the altar.

“Thank you David and Asia for using your talents to serve Christ and the Church. Thank you for assisting the priests at God’s table and the congregation throughout the service. Thank you for leading by your example of dignity and reverence; thereby proclaiming the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ’s love,” said a church representative.

St. Margaret’s Church, Nicholls Town, Andros was filled to capacity on Sunday, January 12, 2014 as people came from every nook and corner of the island to celebrate with the honourees.
