PM says Wells row will be answered – when government ready

PRIME Minister Perry Christie has said that his government will provide answers on the controversy surrounding a letter of intent for a $650 million facility reportedly signed by Parliamentary Secretary Renward Wells in due course.

This comes as members of the opposition Free National Movement (FNM) continue to demand answers over the matter and call for Mr Wells to resign.

“Whenever we are ready to speak to it,” Mr Christie told a reporter on Wednesday.

“We will speak to it, as prime minister I will speak to it, I’m sure the deputy prime minister who has the ministry in which Renward works will speak to it and Mr Wells himself will speak to it.”

On Wednesday, FNM Chairman Darron Cash said Mr Wells must resign immediately amid reports that he breached government protocols by signing the letter of intent with a company proposing a $650 million waste-to-energy deal.

Mr Cash said not only should Mr Wells, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works, resign but “other heads also need to roll”.

His comments came after Deputy Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis said he was “unsure if Mr Wells acted improperly” and will review the facts before further commenting.

It was rumoured that Mr Wells would make a statement in the House of Assembly on Wednesday, however, he did not speak. His wife, Sarah, was present in the House of Assembly in an apparent show of support and sat in the visitor’s gallery during the morning session.

The crux of the controversy is that with senior government officials denying that they gave Mr Wells, a junior, instructions to sign a letter of intent with Stellar Waste to Energy Bahamas Limited (SWTEB), Mr Wells breached Westminster protocols by signing the document.

Mr Davis and Environment Minister Kenred Dorsett have both reportedly expressed surprise that Mr Wells signed the document.

Here we go again........ the spin doctors have to try and cover up Perry's Cabinet lousy mistakes. Perry needs to demand resignations of Shame, Leslie, Obie, Brave, AMG, BJ and VAG.............. OR he just needs to dissolve Parliament and save this country any further embarrassment.

Yeap...instead of doing the right thing and reacting as they should, they are going to run around behind the scenes and try to figure out how they can sugar coat and deflect things.

"Did something bad happened cause it sure smells stinky? Comrades I have ask cause this government has never once passed upon a photo opportunity to promote how they are helping to create thousands of new paychecks, but not one single photo has surfaced in any media source despite the government’s commitment to spend over a half-billion dollars? This is starting to sound pretty damn suspiciously weird for a government who we all should remember how aggressively this PLP cabinet sought extensive media coverage when some foreigner government donated a couple sacks fertilizer to the Ministry of Agriculture intended to aid small farmers, worth in real dollars next to nothing. Yet, no member of this Christie administration, or the intended corporate recipients of a whopping $600 million of taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars, wanted to get anywhere close to one them media photographer’s. How in the hell can the PM, his Minister "Brave” and his Parliamentary Secretary Renard not understand why Tribune readers have be pretty damn curious as to why these three men’s ducked the media's cameras over not just a few sacks horse manure but in excess of a half-of-a-billion dollars of taxpayers monies? Comrades the $500,000 horse manure donation, or maybe it was cow manure, media spin sought by this now camera shy government, was so important that the PM even brought his Foreigner Affairs Minister Freddy Mitchell into the manure media act? Tribune readers definitely knows how spot real horseshit - cause it does smells terribly bad on ya noses. Comrades I lost track of tat donated manure so I have ask Tribune readers, if they know whatever happened to that foreigner donated manure - did the government sell it to raise cash or did they actually hand it out for " free" to help small farmers?

Waste to Energy? Something dirty is going on. Don't forget DPM Brave awarded his own company a huge contract in the same field: http://www.tribune242.com/news/2014/j..." rel="nofollow">http://www.tribune242.com/news/2014/j...

Mr. Wells faces the dilemma of either risking getting in bed with Brave Davis for a share of the illicit pie in this deal and sharing his fate, or being smart and distancing himself from him and exposing these crooks for what they are.

Prime Minister Christie and his whole PLP administration refusal to immediately implement a Freedom Of Information Act is a smoking gun that corruption is more than RAMPANT in this stinky government.

Time is longer than rope and these clowns have yet to come to the realization that they were out of rope for quite some time.

Duck they may but get away they won't.

Her Majesty's Fox Hill Prison has "just enough room left" at the inn to fit these obviously shady politicians. Hubert Ingraham better start packing to make the trip too.

More than likely Mr. Wells is already 'in bed' with Brave Davis. How else could you explain this?

Wow it's been a whole week since he announced that Wells should resign. A whole week with no action. Brave has openly contradicted him and Wells is ignoring him. If anyone including birdie needed a sign that he is a weak indecisive leader, and by no stretch of the imagination, the person in charge of the government, here it is.

This administration goes from one scandal to another. The PLP is reaching new heights for incompetence, corruption and dysfunction. Is there anyone out there other than serial apologist Birdie Strachan, who thinks they have even a grain of credibility left?

Seriously???????? Can you name five FNM scandals in their 15 years that were remotely as bad as what has happened under this PLP government since 2012????? UR2.0, BAMSI, BEC, BTC2%, webshops, referendum2013, Housing, NIB/Cargill, Lloyd Smith, Abaco airport, Fred ambassadors, Oil deals, Dump deals, Carnival etc....................... You cant be serious!!!!!!!!!! Thats almost $2 billion in sweet deals or wastage.

Headline here is an utter joke. Christie is incapable of readying himself for anything including the servicing of his wife! They have yet to make a pill or design a pump that can help his limpness problems!
