Growth of a budding nation

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I salute our great “Nation” The Commonwealth of the Bahamas. I wait with great anticipation that the scales may fall off our eyes and we be anointed with eye-salve that we may see, as we journey on our way to greatness. It may be said in another way by one of our founding fathers “that we become the greatest little nation in the world,” putting God first we are on the way to just that!

I speak of the controversy between the parties as jostling goes on for supremacy. The greatest victory is when all receive the highest good no matter who is the leader. If we want the highest good for all, we must be willing to put our differences aside to the affected person as well as for the nation; this can only be accomplished by a humble person.

Recently I thought that I have seen a bud of growth in the humility of Hubert Minnis representing the opposing party when he stated that they would support Prime Minister Perry Christie and Fred Mitchell on the ongoing issue of immigration that is causing unfavourable circumstances.
This is huge. In the wake of a deliberate effort by unseen detractors and enemies, to falsely accuse the Bahamas of mistreatment is false.

An opportunity of strength; where all parties can benefit in the interest of the nation. This is a milestone, where a huge comparison to America and other big nations that took hundreds of years to develop we can do it in short time through a great God and willing people.

For a long time we stood by and could only watch as we saw the parliamentary; democracy maturity of America in action and one that we admired but seemed helpless to put forward. But a last! Like a young eagle that is in the dizzying heights of the mountain to gain strength she flaps her wings against the power of the wind then feels the lift under her feet with confidence she feels ready to leave the solitude home which would only remain a memory. She soars the magnificent heights to be joined by others of her kind. In anticipation the world watches seeking to benefit as well as protection from this powerful bird.
