Chamber unveils awards ceremony

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) will host its 2014 Best in Business Awards (BIBA) at Sandals Royal Bahamian on Thursday, October 30.

Attended by the country’s top entrepreneurs, government and industry leaders, this prestigious award honours distinguished businesses and exceptional entrepreneurs who have made significant achievements in business in the Bahamas.

The BCCEC will present the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to an individual who has had a positive and enduring impact on the business community, distinguishing him or herself by conducting business with dignity and respect, showing leadership by example, and diligence in community service.

Other award categories include ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, ‘Most Socially Responsible’ and ‘Executive of the Year’ for both male and female honorees.

Edison Sumner, BCCEC chief executive, said: “The Chamber is continuing its signature Awards Ball by reintroducing it as the Best in Business Awards. Our theme, ‘Distinctly Bahamian’, speaks to our celebration of those companies and individuals who are resiliently flourishing, despite the global and national economic forces that they face.

“BIBA draws recognition to the best and brightest businessmen and women – established and up and coming – who are not only making a mark in their field but also in the community.

“We should always honour success stories to demonstrate to fellow Bahamians that you can succeed through dedication and a continuous desire to make an impact in your environment.”
