According to the online Webster’s dictionary leadership is synonymous with guidance, direction, control and management. A lack of leadership would be the opposite of the four characteristics mentioned above.
There are so many examples about the lack of leadership in this current Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) government that it literally boggles my mind. In fact it would take a team of writers at least one year to put this administration’s mishandling of the Bahamian economy and administrative glitches in the proper context.
In the Renward Wells fiasco, where has the leadership of the Prime Minister been? Bahamians still want to know the results of the supposed investigation that was done. I think it is a travesty that a letter of intent was signed without proper authorisation by Wells months ago and still the Bahamian people have no answers.
In terms of our governance we must be the laughing stock for many people around the world. We are lacking leadership at critical levels of government and suffice to say it seems to be getting worse. We have a leadership crisis on our hands and our leadership by its own actions is not even aware of it and as such is not even in a position to begin to address the problems.
A lack of guidance, a lack of direction, a lack of control and mismanagement are all examples of poor leadership. There is little to no control or grave mismanagement on national issues like electricity, crime, jobs, the economy and education. My dearest Bahamians, we are in a leadership crisis whether you want to believe it or not.
