Bahamian singer Johnny Kemp has died at the age of 55, according to reports.
Kemp, who was born in Nassau, is best known for his 1988 hit “Just Got Paid”, which made the Billboard top five and charted in the UK.
The circumstances of his death are unknown at this time. He was married with two sons.

Wow!!! What a tragedy! One of the Bahamas' greatest: I grew up partying to Johnny Kemp music @ Waterloo, Club Mystique, Confetti's and the Zoo!-Knew some of his family members well. I also had the opportunity to talk with him. He was a great entertainer! Condolences to all of his family.

That is very sad. Though like most young people at the time, I sang his hit song as 'Just got laid'.

He has been dead in The Bahamas for 30 years ....... another example of leaving home for the Big Apple .................... but RIP anyway
