Why so secular?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Facts speak for themselves - the much fanfared Bahamas Wedding business over the past three-four years has totally collapsed to the extent Tourism had to come up with a promotion something like 16 weddings on 16 different islands.

Have no problem with the concept BUT as a Christian country which so often the politicians keep on referring to it seems not a single one of these weddings will come anywhere close to a church in fact the primary consideration is very secular, a beach wedding.

Was watching Grand Bahama ZNS News pre-Christmas, the golly golly the Manager of Religious Tourism there was offering a Happy Holidays salutation! As the Religious Tourism Manager surely she should have been saying at the least Merry Christmas ... holidays are granted by a secular government – government did not create Christmas. Christmas is the celebration of Christ’s Birth.

Curious through the islands there are so many beautiful little churches why none were considered or is the focus from tourism these days totally secular, sandy beaches?
